I want to visit Andorra. I think it would be great to spend a few weeks there to extend my time in Europe, since Andorra is not part of the Schengen area. I’ve heard there are no airports or train stations there, so what is the best route to take to get into Andorra?

The only way to get into Andorra is through bus or car, since as you noted, there are no airports or train stations in Andorra. You’ll have to enter through either Spain or France, so you should enter via whichever country is most convenient to the rest of your travel schedule.

There is only one road that enters Andorra from Spain and one road that enters Andorra from France. The nearest airports to Andorra are in Toulouse, Perpignan, and Barcelona. You can take a bus from the Barcelona or Toulouse airports that will take you into Andorra. If you fly into Perpignan, you can take the train to l’Hospitalet, where you can catch a bus. Alternatively, you can also rent a car and drive in.

They don’t always check passports at the border, so if you want to get stamped to prove that you are leaving Schengen, you’ll need to pull over (if you are driving) and get it stamped if they don’t stop you.
