When you're traveling in India, if you plan to stay off the beaten track then you will want to carry your own toilet paper. In India, they typically don't use toilet paper - they use a bucket of water and their left hands. Unless you want to adapt to this method of washing up after using the loo, carry your own toilet paper! You can buy it over there, so don't worry about packing any.

Also, handi-wipes or hand sanitizer is essential for after-loo cleanup. Don't count on the bathrooms to have soap.
