TripHip - Travel Tips and Advice for Traveling on a Budget

I just went up there in December with my girlfriend, and we found a few things out right away - first off, if you're going to be partaking in the tourist destination of Clifton Hill - for the love of god, stay at the Sheraton. We had a room at the Hilton, and that meant taking a 15 minute walk through slush and freezing temperatures to get to our destination. Oh, and the internet wasn't free.

In terms of attractions, Clifton Hill is a mixed bag. The package deal you can get with the Guinness Records Museum is somewhat of a ripoff; they're just a bunch of short, semi pointless excercises. The two things I'd really suggest doing on the hill are Ripley's (a long and varied exhibit, it's fantastic), and the wax museum. Ripley's 4D ride really isn't worth it.

In terms of food, the fallsview Casino has a fairly good buffet that rings in around 20/person if you have a PAC card (they're free). Considering that for the $20 you can fill right up on all the tasty food you want, I'd call it worthwhile. There's occasionally long lines, but meh.
