When visiting Scotland and the UK, you might want to splurge a little bit and spend a night or two in an authentic medieval castle. You can find guest rooms at Airth Castle, Augill Castle and at Castle Stuart. Scottish Castle Stuart is of particular interest as it's just a short drive away from infamous Loch Ness, and it's reported to be quite haunted. Stay in the East Tower if you want to see some spooks during your stay.

Ok, the odds of you seeing the famous Loch Ness Monster while visiting Scotland are rather slim. But you can't miss touring the Highlands area and seeing the loch anyway. Besides the beauty of the region, there are a number of other sites to visit. Urquhart Castle is the most well-known spot around the loch, though the castle is mainly in ruins now.

You can do your Nessie watching right out on the water with a boat tour if you prefer. Driving and walking tours can be found for half-day trips or take the entire day.

It may not the all that exciting (unless you do see the monster), but it's a gorgeous place and there are many places to go walking and hiking around the loch.
