Though the Disney World in Orlando, Florida is the most well-known of the two parks, California's Disney Land is the original park. And as such, it's older and quite a bit smaller than the park in Florida.

Disney Land is home to Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland and Main Street USA. It's basically one large park, broken into several themed sections. On the other hand Disney World is more like several whole parks in one, such as the Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios and Epcot.

Whether you are going to the local amusement park or traveling to a big, commercial one, your trip will take some planning. Summertime means summer fun, so pack up and take the kids on a thrilling adventure. Do it wisely, though, by following these tips.

1) Pack sunscreen. Being out in the summer sun and standing in line for hours can create the perfect conditions for a full body sunburn, so come prepared.

2) Pack a cooler to save on food costs.

3) The earlier you get to the park, the closer you get to park. If you bring a cooler, parking closely is wise, unless you use a picnic area in the park.

4) Bring either a change of clothes or swimming wear to ensure comfort while at the park.
