Flying for some people is an uncomfortable venture. In some cases, it is downright terrifying. Whether you have great anxiety about flying or simple ear discomfort, flying can be made more comfortable. There are different methods for alleviating flying stresses. The following tips could help you the next time you take a flight.

Some people get mild to severe motion sickness. This results in lightheadedness and nausea. To prevent this during flight, you can take Dramamine, which is an over-the-counter medication. It is also useful when traveling on boats or riding roller coasters.

People who succumb to a general fear of flying often become very anxious during flight, especially at take-off and landing. If you get this way, there are numerous techniques to overcome the anxiety. Grabbing the arms of the seat and allowing yourself to increase tension, all the while breathing calmly, can help. Do this for a few seconds, then let go with a big exhale. You can also try to meditate, which is another useful technique.

If you experience ear discomfort while flying, you can alleviate the problem with special earplugs. The ear plugs help reduce the pressure which causes in-flight ear discomfort.

Any of these methods can be used to deal with the various issues that cause people to hate flying. Fear, discomfort, and anxiety can be overcome so that you can enjoy your next vacation.

Flying Comfortably

Flying is not the most comfortable venture. Many times, you are on a crowded plane with annoying people. In addition, the best laid plans often go awry. Planning ahead means you will be prepared for the aggravation and boredom of flying.

Sure, some flights offer films, but you may have seen the flick already, so what are you to do? Bringing a book is a good choice, but not if there is a crying baby or an annoying child on board. Bringing an ipod is a wonderful way to tune out the noise. You could also bring a portable game console, such as a Nintendo DS or a PSP, or a portable DVD player.

Always bring snacks on board. You never know when the airline will run out of food. Bringing snacks ensures you don’t go hungry. Bringing bottled water, granola bars, juice boxes, an apple, an orange, chips, and/ or snack nuts can alleviate in-flight hunger.

Baby wipes or wet naps are an excellent thing to bring too. You can clean up messes easily. They can also be used to freshen up during the flight. It would be wise to bring lotion as well; it gets dry when you fly.

Dress in layers. This way, if you get hot, you can take something off. If you get cold, you can put it back on. You never know what the temperature will be on an aircraft.

Best Airplane Seats

If you're going to be sitting on an airplane for several hours, it's a very good idea to get the best seat possible to make your trip comfortable.

The most immediate option that people think of is the classic "window or aisle" choice. While the window does provide some great views, you may find that perk starts to get stale after an hour of flying over the clouds. Aisle seats don't give you much to look at, but you have more leg room and won't have to jostle past your seat-mates if you want to get up to use the washroom or when it's time to disembark.

For the most leg room, a seat in any of the rows with an emergency exit is your best bet because the rows are wider.

Another thing to consider is turbulence. Flights near the wings will feel less bumpy if the plane hits any rough air pockets. A nice touch if you are prone to motion sickness or just get nervous while flying.
