Going out of town with children without the right items will only cause you grief in the end. You should plan ahead whenever going out of town; that includes how you will pack. Depending on how long you will be gone, how many children will be in tow, and where you are going, you will pack differently. However, there are always simple rules one should follow when packing toys for any journey with children.

Packing toys is a necessity. Keeping kids busy during long drives or flights is the best way to avoid aggravation. Take only toys that are quiet. You don’t want a headache and neither does anyone else. Vacations are far more comfortable if you haven’t made your fellow travelers angry. Inflatable toys are a great idea because not only are they quiet and soft, but they can be stored in very small spaces, which saves room for other necessities.

The best way to occupy kids while traveling is to invest in compact game consoles (Nintendo DS, PSP) or in small, portable DVD players. All of these come with a headphone jack, which makes them quiet as well. In addition, these make for hours of kid-friendly fun. Naturally, books are a good item to have too; they fit in small places, they are quiet, and kids love them.

Having these kinds of items with you will help you enjoy your travels much more easily. Avoid crying, tantrums, and outbursts without having to take three suitcases full of toys with you. In the end, your trip will be more satisfying if the kids are satisfied.
