You may think of the United Kingdom or maybe Scotland when it comes to visiting castles. But the largest castle in the world is actually in the Czech Republic city of Prague. It's a huge complex where you can see Gothic cathedrals, halls, palaces, towers and a number of other buildings and outdoor gardens.

If you're visiting Prague, this is not something you should miss. It's easy to get to with tram and metro stations You will have to buy tickets for admission, and certain parts of the castle (like the Powder Tower) will require an additional ticket.

You can also join a guided tour, or explore the compound yourself with a recorded audio guide. Once an hour, there is a changing of the guard ceremony at the gates to the castle. Some parts of the castle are currently used for government offices, and are not open to the public except on certain occasions.

There is a great deal of history and architectural beauty in Prague, but Prague Castle is in a class all its own. A must see.
