Pelee Island is a small island off the coast of Ontario, Canada, and north of Ohio, located in the blue waters of Lake Erie.

The island, the largest in the basin of Lake Erie, has only 275 permant residents, but this swells to over a thousand during the summer months.

It's a fun adventure just to get to Pelee - there are two passenger ferries (which also carry vehicles) one from the Ontario msinland and one from Sandusky, Ohio. Or you can sail or motor in. Or you can fly in to Pelee Island Airport.

There are no banks, or ATMs on the island, so be prepared for that. What you will find is tranquility... cars and bikes in harmony, cottages with views of the lake, the Pelee Island lighthouse, and restauraunts and bakeries. There's even a tour of a winery located there!

Pelee Lighthouse was built in 1833 - it's the second oldest Canadian lighthouse on the great lakes. The alvary Anglican Church was dedicated in 1898. St. Mary's Church, the oldest church on the island, is dated to 1863.

Fish Point Nature Reserve was established in 1984.

You'll find commercial and sport fishing, pheasant hunting, boating and more. Everything is seasonal, so make sure you call ahead and check to see if things will be happening at the time of your visit!
