If you're traveling through Thailand you want to see something off the beaten path, check out Wat Kaek in northeastern Thailand.

This bizarre sculpture park is filled with hundreds of amazingly-detailed sculptures. These sculptures combine Hindu and Buddhist iconography with local folklore to create a mind-blowing array of 3-dimensional images.

Wat Kaek is a definite must for any art or art history buff!

(Afterwards, you can visit Nong Khai, which is on the Mekong River. You can see Laos on the other side. From Nong Khai you can take the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to visit Laos - but you will need a Lao visa first.)
